Starting a New Conversation

I had my first website built in 1995 when I realized I needed an online presence to promote my consulting company.  Before that, I relied on business cards and brochures.  My first website is no longer in existence but here is a link to the last one I had, before changing my career and becoming a full time artist.

I realized then, as I do now, that a website is not something that can remain static, like a brochure, but must change almost every week and in order to do that, and do it economically, you need to do it yourself.

Luckily, there are many websites that offer this service (wix, squarespace, wordpress) and even some that are built just to support artists like FASO.

I'm a kind of "cut and paste" person (not great at writing code or even using plug-ins)  and when my wordpress developer went on to bigger and better things, I knew I needed to take over and learn how to manage my own site.  Not my first choice but given my budget, the necessary choice.

My good friend, Judith, convinced me to try her provider, Weebly.  And, after doing a few pages, I realized she was totally right.  So easy!  (Well, it helps a lot to have a friend to call who says, do this and do that!)

So this is my first blog on my new website.  I'm still on a learning curve so if something isn't working or you are frustrated finding information, please let me know.  I will try to fix it!

I love the new web site! Fresh new look, and your art is radiant!! Is there a site-warming party (like house warming)?

Congratulations on this new blog page. I have never blogged (!!!) anyone before so this is New to me too. I'm excited to be the first follower from Australia to give you comments. I have already told you in a personal email how your work has inspired me so much that as a newly retired women I am taking on Stupendous Stitching in a life changing way. Now I want other Nani's out there like me, to know how much joy your classes can bring to them in their later years. You are never too old to learn a new craft.

Still trying so hard to find where to buy your book in Australia, but nothing. I missed out buying your Stupendous Stitching Kit when it went on sale on Craftsy at half price for 1 day because of the time difference. I need to get a copy to help me. If any bloggers out there know where I can buy a copy of Stupendous Stitching, please let me know on this site.
I come to your site every day Carol Ann to keep up with any new developments and I am having so much fun doing two of your classes on Craftsy. Your work is fabulous and you are a terrific teacher, explaining everything in very clear and precise ways. Many thanks from a devoted student.:)

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for your kind comments. I don't ship overseas (too expensive and too much paperwork!) but you can buy my ebook from Amazon. I know that's not always satisfying but Craftsy stopped carrying my kit. ;-(

Hello from Scotland! I bought your book "Stupendous Stitching" after hand dying my own fabric with tissue paper and didn't know how to take it forward. I loved the book SO much, but still prefer to do my own thing without "copying", y'know? So anyway, loving that I get to read your blog, and well done on the change of media - creativity is incredible, isn't it? I love colour SO much!
