Just got back from teaching 2 workshops on Self Portraits and giving a lecture for the Quilters Connection Guild in Watertown, MA. What a trip!
It was a holiday weekend and I had the chance to stay with my brother’s family and celebrate Passover and Easter in the same weekend. How wonderful is that! Matza Ball soup and ham. Good thing we are a blended family.
All I can say is that my students were all artists! They made amazing pieces. I hope they send me photos of their finished portraits so I can post them to my website. Here are some photos of the workshop. We all had a great time!

Dear Carol–I have your course and also your book and extras that come along with it–you neglected to have a warning sign on the book or a place for me to sign a waiver about spending too much on all the wonderful necessities that go with the habit forming course–I CANNOT stop doing the pieces–I was just going to practice on this one piece and now I have THREE going at the same time and they are hanging on my design wall OVER the quilt I need to finish–I am addicted to this process–I am also going to do some beading on a couple of the pieces–Oh and by the way–I spent $76 yesterday at my local Hancocks on rattail and assunderies–when does this stop–I really am enjoying myself and would like to meet you face to face–this process is definitely something to get you started thinking about colors–right now I’m afraid that I am still thinking like a quilter and the colors are blending–oh well– all I have to do is buy more thread and start another one–thanks for the class and I am going to start on a stitch and slash–yes I am in that course also–please do not do another until I am done with these two–cannot afford it–lol–Mary Ellen
You are hilarious! I love your idea about the disclaimer. Several of my students have told me my Stupendous Stitching class was the most expensive class they ever took since they rushed out the next day to buy a new sewing machine! I love meeting my students in person. I will be teaching my Stupendous Stitching class at Houston on October 29th. Maybe we can meet in person there?
No pressure, but will you be offering the Self Portrait class on Craftsy? I’ve taken both Stupendous Stitching and Stitch & Slash – loved them both!
Hi Linda. I would love to teach this on Craftsy but they have not asked me to do so. Perhaps if you requested it, they might think about adding it to their schedule for next year.
