I am so happy to be a member of this wonderful Denver quilt guild. There are so many talented quilters and artists in the guild but more than that, it’s the warm, welcoming atmosphere I sense whenever I get a chance to come to one of the events or meetings. Being brought up in a cold, strict, anglo-saxon family, this is quite a change for me and I am now starting to understand the word “community” and how it can be very important in sustaining you in life. I wrote about this a little in my last FRCQ monthly letter — about how the Olympic athletes wouldn’t be where they are without their support group and pledged myself to do even more to support the fiber artists I know who are struggling to make it to the top of their profession. It’s now a mission of mine.
Here’s a photo of me with the Co-Curator of the exhibit “Do you See What I See” — Joanne Walton. She is one of the nicest people I know.

Carol:

very nice article, proud of you sis,,
I agree, Joanne is one of the cutest and sweetest persons I know. She has talent and is not boastful, however, is surprising and amazing and she loves helping others. You asked for it, you got it. Love you Jo. You’re so cool. Thanks Carol Ann
Carol, it was so nice to meet you on Saturday. I agree — I always tell people that I really hit the jackpot on in-laws when I married Joanne’s son Jon. -Stephanie
Nice meeting you and your family too! I love your Mother-in-Law too!
Great article from the heart. We are all a community quilting family and welcome you. It’s always great to see your smiling face and your friendly persona. Ditto on Joanne, she’s so caring and always wants to see that everything goes well.
Thanks, Artie. You are such a treasure for our guild. (I STILL want to make that fabulous tote bag you taught everyone last year!)
Very nice article. Carol thanks and very proud of Joanne
Love, Fran
