I had the honor of being asked to jury the 30th annual “New Legacies” exhibition at the Lincoln Center Galleries in Ft. Collins this year. We had more than 125 entries to review and Jeanne Shoaff, the Director of the Galleries, was extremely well prepared so withan a couple of hours, we had narrowed down the selection to include about 50% of the entries. But what a 50% it was! These were some of the very best fiber artists in the country. Each piece demanded my attention. The gallery is a beautiful venue, white walls and well lit. Every detail was apparent and the colors were gorgeous. Several artists received honorable mentions but the artist that walked away with the grand prize was my friend Mary McCauley. She is working in 3-D right now, creating vessels, botanical pieces and wonderful, abstracts.

The first photo is of Mary and Jeanne Schoaff along side her award-winning piece. The next two are the two other pieces of here that got juried into the show. If you are interested in Fiber Art, don’t miss this spectacular show! It will be up through September 5, 2012.
