Today, I delivered “Up Up and Away” to the Eastside Human Services building on Steele Street in Denver. I was happy to see how it turned out but was anxious to show it to all the other artists who were also delivering their work to the building. I was also anxious about how Mary Valdez (Public Art Coordinator for Denver and my main contact) would view the work. But I needn’t have worried — they all said they liked it very much and asked me lots of questions about my techniques.
One of the interesting aspects of this commission was the “freedom” to design and make whatever the artist saw to fill the space assigned. Each of us did something totally different which gives this building infinite interest and something to please everyone, no matter what their background or circumstances.
I took a couple of snapshots of my piece — here they are. It is located on the second floor in the lobby — hence behind a reddish counter with some work stations. I also love this location because it’s out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of hands wanting to touch the art! (Who can resist fiber???)

This is very good.
